Information for Booster Elections – May 9th 2020

Since we are unsure when we will be able to meet again because our county has still not moved to “Yellow,” I would like to propose that members of the Boosters start to send me nominations for the new 2020-2021 Board. Please email these to [email protected] with “Nominations for Boosters” in the subject line.

Before placing someone on the ballot, I will verify if the nominee is interested in the position. Please do this before the end of the day on May 29th. I will then put together a list of the nominees and put together a Google Form for voting if we cannot, in fact, get together before the end of June. I will post this on Facebook and on the website when that is ready.

*** Members that have students currently in Band (not Alumni) and also who have attended at least 1 or more meetings (and helped with three or more events) during the current year, can vote in the nomination and election of officers (per our by-laws).***

Positions for nominations are

  • President – open
  • Vice President – currently Jill Pawlowski
  • Treasurer – currently Debbie Tooch
  • Secretary – currently Sally Smith

Those who currently hold the position can also be nominated. I believe that all the current members (besides me) said they were willing to run again.

I also wanted to make everyone aware of what committees need heads:

  1. Cash Bash – need two people to spread out work
  2. Pit Crew (Band Dads)
  3. Seat Protectors
  4. Tour T-Shirts
  5. Facebook & Website – I’m sure Mr. James would welcome help
  6. Booster Board

If there are any current heads of committees that need to step down, please let me know so I can update the list.

Thank you! I have enjoyed working with the Boosters for the past 5 years and the past two as President. I will miss it!

Cari Skuse – Freedom Band Booster President

Thank yous!

I wanted to send out a big thank you to Sharon Geibel for all the hard work and time she put in for the Band Banquet! Thank you also to everyone that helped plan, set up and clean up. It is appreciated!

Another shout out goes to Max & Erma’s for donating the Ice Cream bar. It was delicious. And speaking of delicious, I thought that the food from J&J Enterprises was really good! Melissa was great to work with.

If you have suggestions for next year’s banquet please let us know.
We moved the banquet to the Conway Fire Hall because of costs going up at Center Stage and lower attendance. We thought if it was closer, we may get more people (which we did), along with supporting local business. Our organization does not make any profit from the banquet, in fact we pick up part of the cost not covered by ticket sales.

Band Booster Meeting – February 3, 2020

Please join us for our monthly meeting in the HS Band room at 7:00 pm!

We will be discussing such things as the Cash Bash, Band Banquet and the possible trip next year. Please read over the meeting minutes so that we can note any changes at the meeting.

Cash Bash tickets will also be available at the meeting for purchase from Stephanie Mulroy; you can also bring your Banquet RSVP and ticket money for Sharon Geibel.

If you are a committee head, please try to attend or send me any news you wish to be discussed at the meeting. Thank you!

Booster Meeting – 1/6/2020

The January Booster meeting will be held tonight at 7:00 pm in the HS Band room. Please join us! We will be discussing fundraising, the banquet, and many other issues. All parents (instrumentalists and unit members) are encouraged to attend; we would love to have your help, especially from parents of younger students because many parents who now help will no longer be around to help next year when their student graduates this year! This includes (and a huge THANK YOU goes out to) Diane Everette (Mayson), Jean Buerkle (Steven), Melanie Snavely (Maddie), Cathy Wright (Aidan), Cari Skuse (Cade & Cole), Brian Spielman (Hallie), and Barry Hedge (Mason). If no one new steps up for next year, there will be only 2 or 3 chaperones for the entire band next year (not including the 3 parents who are responsible for snacks) compared to the (at least) 6 needed for each game. Someone will also be needed to take over the lead Band Dad responsibilities (includes loading the trailer and driving the truck to and from events) from Brian Spielman.

This is really a dire situation. We really need people to help out the kids and volunteer for at least one event during the year! What you do directly impacts the members of the marching band! Especially if the band is going on a trip next marching season.

Please read over tonight’s agenda:

Senior Scrapbooks

SENIORS: A letter was passed out on Friday for your choice of what kind of Senior scrapbook you would like. See the link below for more information if you didn’t yet get your form or misplaced it. The form is due back on November 6th (see form for details). If you already returned your form, thank you!

Shutterfly Share Site & Band Photos

There is still a photo sharing site on Shutterfly so that people may upload their photos, check out the gallery, order photos and use them for photo books and scrapbooks. Uploading of photos is a great way for more people to get photos of events they may not have, especially for Seniors!

The address for the site is https://freedombigredband.shutterfly.com/.

If you would like to upload or order photos, you must already have a login for Shutterfly or you will need to create a login on the site. Then you must request to join the Share Site. I will approve you and then you will have access to upload photos from your computer or other drives.

If you just want to look at the photos, you do not have to create a log in.

There is also a sample photo book there that was done for last year’s Seniors. It will be updated to reflect this year’s Senior class and if you would like a digital book, you can complete your own.

Another great source for photos are all the photos that Mary White posts each week on Facebook that she takes at each game. Here is an example from last week: https://www.facebook.com/mary.brownwhite/media_set?set=a.10220699929790828&type=3
